Alexandrian Tradition: A branch of Wicca started in Britain during the 1960’s. It is based on Gardnerian Witchcraft, and named after its founder, Alex Sanders.
British Traditional Witchcraft: A branch of British Witchcraft based on a blend of Celtic and Gardnerian ideas.
Caledonii Tradition: A tradition that originated in Scotland and is blended with ancient Scottish lore. It was once call Hecatine Tradition.
Celtic Witchcraft: A branch of Gardnerian Witchcraft mixed with Celtic and Druidic ideas.
Ceremonial Witchcraft: A form of Witchcraft that uses Qabalistic magick.
Dianic Witches: A feminist branch of Witchcraft practiced by all-female groups worshiping the Goddess in Her Triple form only. These groups may use a mixture of various traditions. They use the Goddess of Four Directions in circle work, and all tools have a Goddess system.
Eclectic Witch: A Witch who practices or uses no particular Wiccan or magickal tradition. It can be a group or a solitary Witch who uses whatever works, excluding orthodox ideas.
Egyptian Witchcraft: A branch of Witchcraft using ancient Egyptian deities and ideas.
Gardnerian Tradition: A branch of Witchcraft founded in Britain by Gerald Gardner in early 1950’s.
Greek Witchcraft: A branch of Witchcraft using ancient Greek deities and ideas.
Green Witch: Usually a solitary Witch who bases her magick on the uses of herbs and plants. Often, there is little or no religion involved.
Hecatine Tradition: The original name for the Caledonii Tradition.
Hereditary Tradition: A specific family tradition of Witchcraft and/or magick that has survived through several generations of a particular family and is taught by living relatives. Somethings, this branch of Wicca is called Family Traditions or Fam Trads.
Kitchen Witch: A name not often used, it describes a Witch who practices practical magick using Earth power, Earth objects, herbs, and the Elements. These Witches do most of their work in the kitchen at the hearth or stove. There may or may not be religious ideas incorporated.
Mesopotamian Witchcraft: A branch of Witchcraft that uses ancient Mesopotamian deities and ideas.
Natural Witch: See Solitary Witch.
Nordic Witchcraft: See Teutonic Witchcraft.
Pietish Witchcraft: Based on the Piets who inhabited England and Scotland before the arrival of the Celts. This usually describes a solitary Witch, rarely a group. There is little religion in this branch of Wicca, as the Witch deals primarily with nature magick.
Pow-Wow Tradition: Founded in Pennsylvania, and based on old German magick, the followers do not call themselves Witches. It comes from four hundred years of German magick.
Roman Witchcraft: A branch of Witchcraft that uses ancient Roman deities and ideas.
Seax-Wicca: A form of Witchcraft that was founded by Raymond Buckland in 1973. It was based on ancient Saxon beliefs and deities, with elements of the Gardnerian Tradition.
Solitary Witch: Sometimes called a Natural Witch. The practitioners work alone, following whatever tradition or mixture of traditions they desire. In some ways, this branch is similar to the Eclectic Witch.
Strega Witchcraft: An Italian branch of Witchcraft said to have been founded by a woman named Aradia in around 1353.
Teutonic Witchcraft: A branch of Witchcraft that is based on ancient German and Scandinavian ideas and deities. It is also called the Nordic Tradition or Nordic Witchcraft.
Wiccan Shamanism: A blend of Witchcraft and shamanic ideas.
Wiccan Witch: A Solitary Witch or group of Witches who rarely call the Goddess or God by a name. This simple classification, however, is rare, as most Witches blend their religion with some aspects of ancient traditions.
