Bell, Book & Candle
To all of our followers, let’s clear some air here.

This is Zack, the more silent admin of this blog. I’m here to make a few things clear about our blog as we have received some rude, hateful messages today, along with some accusations of our character. So to all of our followers…you are following us by choice. There are 465 of you lovely people and we’re extremely grateful to have you. However, for quite a while now, there has been a lot of hate in the Pagan tag, and we would like to clear some things.
1. We don’t like to see such dissent and hate among fellow Pagans. Please, everyone, spread the love. Cultural morals are different for everyone, and everyone has the right to be offended if their beliefs or culture are misrepresented. However, lashing out and spreading hate rather than trying to politely educate is not the way to go. Don’t say you’re sick of the hate then continue to hate others, it’s hypocritical and makes YOU look intolerant, not the person who made a “mistake” in your opinion.
2. The purpose of our blog is to provide a safe haven for opinions, discussions, images, and resources for all aspects of Paganism (including culturally different Paganism). Although we may post primarily things of Wiccan and Celtic Pagan denomination, we will also post things of other denominations not because we feel entitled to, but because we try to accommodate any followers that may have different beliefs than our own. If you don’t like this, unfollow. You can’t blame us for your choice of sticking around.
3. The concept of “appropriation” is very much real and can be highly offensive to others. This should be respected if certain cultural aspects are being abused (i.e. wearing a Native American war bonnet for “fun”). However, if you are “sensitive” because your belief system, culture, or individual identity is frequently abused, remember to not blind yourself with hate. A word in your culture is not the same in another, and vice versa. This also includes things like rituals, practices, etc. For example: One group may call a blade used for religious purposes a ceremonial knife. Others might say a ceremonial dagger. Some might say an athame. Some might say a boline. Some might say a ritual blade. Just because you think one or more of these choices are wrong, does not make the other person wrong. Your opinion does not control religious beliefs, especially in such a diverse and free religion such as Paganism. Cultural borrowing has been around for thousands of years and has helped both connect people great distances away and share amazing aspects of a culture that otherwise could have been lost years ago if not for sharing. Everyone should remember, though, to not abuse appropriation. Respect others and their cultures, and try to love one another.
4. And lastly, we respect all opinions voiced on our blog. Whether it is something re reblogged from elsewhere, something we state, or something submitted to our inbox, it is all respected (even if we do not see eye to eye). So never be afraid to communicate with us. However, due to the massive amount of hate in the Pagan tags, know this: We are a dead end for this hate. And by this I mean we will not post it, propagate it, or condemn others. The hate stops here, as our intentions are to provide a safe blog of love and learning for ourselves and our fellow Pagans. If you have intentions on fouling our blog, don’t bother. Tumblr is supposed to be a safe haven for Pagans, so please don’t spread hate.

To all of our followers, we love you. You’re the best and we love hearing from each and every one of you. Thank you for sticking around in our little bubble of love. And you will all be rewarded very, very soon with an awesome giveaway from us! So again, thank you for following, and have a blessed day!

Amethyst Spell for Lovers
What you will need:
Two Amethyst Necklaces that look somewhat alike.
A lavender or pink candle.
Rose oil to dress the candle.
Both of you sitting with the candle between you.
2 lighters. or matches.
You pass the candle back and forth and each person takes a turn in dressing the candle with the oil. As you dress the candle you talk about the favorite things you love about each other. You pass the candle and oil back and forth kind of like a talking stick. Who ever has the candle and is anointing it gets to talk. Do this until you feel the love all over the place.
Once that is done set the candle back in front of you and each person taking either a match or a lighter will light the candle at the same time. Let it burn for a minute and share a kiss over the candle. Then you take the other persons necklace and hold it over the flame. ( not in it. Don’t wanna damage the stone) As you both hold each others necklaces over the flame and let the chains twine around each other say:
Let our love burn as hot as this flame.
Let our walls come down like a summer rain
With each other we shall feel no shame
With each other we shall survive the pain.
Our love is Patient.
Our Love is kind.
Our hearts are Open
as well as our minds.
Shall this bond we need to break.
We shall throw these stone into river or lake.
The running water shall wipe us clean.
Our hearts, our minds, and our suffering.
Each lover puts the necklace they are holding on the other person. and seal it with a kiss.

Typically I use the large taper candles for spell work. Some colors that I needed though, weren’t sold in the large sizes, and only these tiny ones. When I got home, I realized that I did not have a candle holder small enough. So, I took a tea light candle, and lit it….

This is also a good idea :) and to be honest, I have never had any of my little candles overflow this way, I just get a circle of whatever color the candle was from the bottom of them :D

pagan-as-fuck:

This would be (not exactly just a general idea) for my hand fasting dress whenever that may come about. Love the colors, just needs to be a darker shade of brown :)

Handfasting!

darlingsbookofshadows:

What is Handfasting?

A handfasting is an old Pagan custom, dating back to the time of the ancient Celts. A handfasting was originally more like an engagement period, where two people would declare a binding union between themselves for a year and a day. The original handfasting was a trial marriage. It gave the couple the chance to see if they could survive marriage to each other. After a year goes by (a handfasting was once believed to last a year and a day), the couple could either split as if they had never been married or could decide to enter permanently into marriage. HoweverToday, Wiccans and Pagans have embraced handfasting as a part of their wedding ceremony. A handfasting can either be a legal marriage (depending on state law), or a commitment for “as long as love shall last.” A handfasting ceremony can be tailor made to suit the couple.

Ceremonies?

The actual “Handfasting”: “Is it also your wish today that your hands be fasted in the ways of old?”«BRIDE» and «GROOM»: “It is.”

“Remember then as your hands are fasted, these are not the ties that bind…”

Cords are held aloft

“The role already taken by the song your hearts share shall be now be strengthened by the vows you take. All things of the material world eventually return to the Earth unlike the bond and the connection your spirits share which is destined to ascend to the heavens.

“May you be forever as one in the passion and fire of you Bride and Groom’s hands are bound You are now as your hearts have always known you to be, Husband and Wife. You may kiss the bride!”

Blessing of the Rings: “«Best Man » and «Maid of Honor» will you now hold out the rings entrusted to you by «BRIDE» and «GROOM»? Your hands beneath serve as a symbol of how «BRIDE» and «GROOM» and their marriage are supported upon this earth by the love of their friends and family as blessed from above.”

Elemental Blessing: “We ask the spirits of Air to keep open the lines of communication between this couple. May their future be as bright as the dawn on thehorizon. As Air flows freely to and from and through us all, may their hearts and minds and souls come to know the world and each other in this manner. Seeing not only with their eyes, may they together grow wise with wisdom.

“Spirits of Fire, we ask that «BRIDE» and «GROOM»’s passion for each other and for life itself remain ever strong and vital, fortifying each day with a vibrancy rooted in boldness, and courage. As Fire clears the way for new growth, may they know that this power is theirs: to create change and bring about the richness and quality that comes with a true love of life.”

“We ask the Spirits of Water, that their love for each other and the comfort of loved ones, like the serenity of the deep blue ocean, be the oasis that forever surrounds our Bride and Groom. May they be well loved, and love well, letting the surety with which Water makes its journey to the sea, flowing over rocks or around trees, even turning into vapor and riding a cloud, ever serve as a reminder that with love all is well and will endure.”

“Spirits of Earth, we ask that you give unto those you see standing before you this day, the rock solid place to stand and fulfill his destiny. May their journey mirror the vast planes and fertile fields, expansive and alive. May they find the right seeds to sow to ensure a bountifulharvest. And when they look up at the Northern Star, may they know that it is as bright and constant as their love for each other as well as the love of the divine is for them.”

“Father, Mother, Divine Spirit whose presence is felt in all things and at all times we ask your continued blessings upon this couple, upon their union and upon their family and friends who have gathered here to celebrate this joyous event with them. May they become one in truth and forever revel in the magik that is love.”

«Best Man» and «Maid of Honor» hold out the wedding bands in the palm of their hands Celebrant continues:

“Lord and Lady, guardians of all that is seen and unseen, Bless these rings and this couple who shall wear them. Keep them safe through adversity forever supported by your eternal blessing.”

Strong Protection Spell: For Your Home (requested)

adviceforwitches:

 What you will need:

- Lemon grass
- Sage
- about 1/3 of a cup of rosemary, sea salt (1/2 cup) and lavender/clove
- A vacuum and or a broom
- Dragons-blood incense (if available)/ Sandalwood

GROUNDING/CENTERING

Take either a ritual bath before this or if you don’t have time, mentally cleanse yourself. Either way, take about 10 to 15 minutes and calm your mind. Imagine all the energy in the earth traveling into you and taking your negativity and troubles away, when you do this visualize a blue or green fog or aura slowly encasing you and absorbing all your bad thoughts or stress. It is important to do this before any magickal working to ensure the best result for your magick. When all the negativity and stress is out of you picture the blue or green aura slowly sinking back into the earth where it came from.

CLEANSING

First begin by taking the 1/3 of a cup of rosemary and lavender or clove and a 1/2 cup of sea salt into one jar or container. These herbs and the sea salt have strong protection and cleansing properties. Hold your hands over the jar or container and visualize a white light and say:

“With these herbs I cleanse this place
So that everyone may enter without haste
With this salt this place shall start anew
Bad feelings out, away with the blues
As i will, so mote it be!”

Take the mixture and put it on floors in each room, don’t get too crazy! A little goes a long way. While it is sitting, take the lemongrass and sage and the incense and light it, let it burn for a few seconds then blow it out so it continues to smoke. Leave the incense in the room where people in the home usually are (living room, kitchen, ect.) Take the smoking sage and lemongrass and waft the smoke over your body or have someone do it for you. If there is other people in the house, do it to them as well. Once that is done, continue to go around the house and waft the smoke on the walls, on door ways, especially entrances into the home. You can walk around the perimeter of your yard if you want also. Once you are done you can put the sage and lemongrass out but leave the dragons-blood or sandalwood incense burning until it goes out.

LAST STEP:

Vacuum up sea salt and herb mixture or sweep up and continue to go about your day!

Hope this helped! Goddess Bless )0(

Yule Sun Cookies

natural-magics:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/3 cup. flour
  • 1 1/2 cups grated almonds (blanched)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:

  • 2 cups sifted confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 T. water

Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy and light. Add grated lemon peel, salt, flour, grated almonds, and 1 tsp. vanilla; mix thoroughly. Place dough in bowl. Cover and chill thoroughly. When dough is well chilled; or next day, roll out dough to 1/8” thickness and cut with a sun shaped cookie cutter (or a crescent moon shaped one if you prefer). Place 1/2” apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Icing:

While cookies bake, combine confectioner’s sugar, vanilla and water. Spread over tops of cookies while still warm, but not too hot as icing will melt. Thin with additional drops of water if glaze is too thick. Allow cookies to cool. Yields 10 dozen cookies.

I can’t find a representation of the God for my altar, and I have been trying. I looked on ebay for a small piece of deer antler, but there was nothing that really called to me (also I’m not sure how Mike would react to me keeping bits of animals on my altar, the cats wold probably love it), I looked for a sculpture of a deer, same problem, couldn’t find anything I liked. I don’t want to use a picture, because I have two little Goddess statues. I found a little statue that represents the God, but it was made from plastic (I HATE plastic).
Then I remembered that I have a woodburning iron, Lightbulb! I’ve found a small, square block of wood that would be fit for purpose, and a picture (the one above) that I like, so am gonna make my own piece of art to represent the Lord. I think he’d appreciate that more than a statue bought off ebay.
